Ebay and all the other auction sites have this thing called "private policy protection" or some thing like that, they can't reveal it to any one.

But that gave me an idea, I got this from an old game I use to play called Runescape.

Runescape actually have a pretty decent system against real life trading. They monitor trades to look for odd trades, for example, a player giving 10 million gp to some one for free . Every time the system picks some thing up, it will flag the player, often resulting in a ban.

Please don't kill me when you hear this Priest, but I normally make my money by buying low selling high.

(No, not from Black Dyes in Pre Sear...)

Yeah, especially the male version with the big fat pigeon chest and the tiny squashed-in looking helm. Too many full-black wammos in it make me spew.

I hate people that tell other people in game they ebayed their armor ><. I mean i know some people might do that, but dont forget there are other people that worked hard for it, that will not apreciate those comments.

My bro said that in EQ the company contacted Ebay and had them stop all EQ gold sells so that its no longer an issue. I dunno what they had to do to get it done but it is possible.
The OP never said that EVERYONE who has FoW = Ebay freaks... He just said its getting more and more common because ebay makes gold easier to obtain.
I do agree with the OP and at the same time this is an old rant. Anet/NCsoft or whoever needs to talk with Ebay about it if they hope to put an end to it.

Thats what we call an E-Peen Enlargement Attempt, It'll get you about as much negative feedback as someone saying all FoW wearers Ebay'ed.

Welcome to the internet.

Ebay is just the "jump to" guy when people complain, Ebay actually makes up less percentage of the gold sales than you'd think. Only 12 yr olds with their mommas credit cards go to Ebay for ingame gold.

Very true I have seen other sites that sell gold, but it would at least be of some help. I think Virigood (sp) is one of the ones that actually gives a percentage or something to the farmers to go out and get it and so forth, plus they hire people for the delivery of it. Ebay however is not earning anything really from these guys and don't work in the same manner. It would certainly not shut it down but it would help, seeing as how most of the nubs that buy off ebay are ones that likely don't know about other places.
There are a lot of 12yr olds with their mommas' credit cards out there.

If Anet isnt worried about it why should anyone else? It is there job to enforce the rules.

If Anet isnt worried about eBay and other things that ruin the game then the game won't be around long, if they dont take care and fix certain things the game will go belly up and they will lose out on getting all your hard earned money....simple.

remeber when factions came out - a lot of materials were sold out, leaving players a very good revenue stream for a little while. Made a whole bunch at that time and plan on doing same on Oct 27th as i have no reason to create a new char for NF.
At one time greens from SF were worth serious gold, a good day could yield 100-200k. Then came tombs, another gold mine for many weeks. Those 2 places helped make a lot of us so called millionaires.
My main money makers were and are a Ranger and Necro - guess where I lived.
Funny how the green market seems to have crashed as of late, was wondering how much Ghilas(sp) staff would have fetched back in January.
Just adding my bit to what has already been said - if you want something there is a way.
Oh, a reminder. Lots of materials to be had while playing factions - remember the 27th.

OP, like you said, why pay 100+20 ectos for a weapon for the skin while you can get collectors for cheap, why the heck you get a fow armor? it means totally nothing. NO it doesnt mean that you ebayed for gold, doesnt mean that you a great trader, doesnt mean that you're any good in this game. If you like it so much, you can buy it anyway you want. How does others using their own money buying fow armor ruing the game for you? they didn't use your money.

I farm the now ever popular Harvest temple, and I can tell you that, with lots of time spent chatting and afking, I can make 25k/hr there. Do that 1-2 hours a day, 7 days a week, excluding randomness of drops, in one month with this pattern I can have 1 set of fissure of woe armor and have 200plat left over (at the going rate of 1.2m/fow for 5 peices). However, I farm about 4-5 hours there (and spend it almost as fast), however I've saved up (in the matter of one day) enough money to have 23 ectos and 16 shards.

However, I also own 3 (nearly 4) sets of 15k on my primary account (and an additional 2 sets deleted because I didn't like the character), My secondary account has 2 1/5 sets of 15k, one peice of fow. The one peice of FOW is dyed black, then there are three peices of 1.5K dyed some combination of black and silver. All of this was done by soloing UW, griffons, Arrahash Mountainclub, Ghial, and Harvest Temple. I'm sure that if I wasn't a giver and an impulse buyer I would have at least 2 full sets of FOW by now, but, alas. However, I am saving for one set for myself and a hat for my mothers rit.

I agree, it's way too easy to go on ebay with a credit card and buy whatever you want for Guild Wars. From materials such as ectos/shards, to perfect weapons, to gold. Does it ruin the economy and fun factor for the game? In a sense, it would provide peoples with way to get what they wanted with having to do much work. Not to mention peoples with perfect weapons might sell it on ebay for real-world profit.

The people that do ebay gold generally don't affect anyone else anyway. They end up (getting run of course) in Moron's Grotto with the other incompetants who can't actually play the game. When you've run five characters off the same account to Grotto and then run those same five to the forgemaster for armor, all the same week, it's pretty simple to guess where the gold/ecto came from. At least those same people allowed me to purchase multiple sets should I ever desire.

i farm alot too. thats all i do now that ive beaten cantha with 5 characters, working on my 6th really slowly cause its so damn boring. but i farm and chest run 3-5 hours a day. sometimes less. i make 10k in 45 mins get bored, make that my limit, call it a night and do something else. ive made roughly 350-400k farming & selling things in around 2 weeks. its not easy, people want "perfect" weapons which not everything you find is perfect, its boring, and i dont even want to EVER get fow armor for any of my characters cause its butt ugly and a ripoff. If it were 75k per set + normal 15k armor materials instead of 80 ecto that is at 8k each + shards that is insanely expensive to farm for and infinitely time consuming + materials, you wouldnt have people buying gwgold or bot farming. so really its ANETs fault here as well for making a rediculously expensive fugly sets of armor. Maybe they should rethink it.

I sell all my ecto and shards to people in TOA or to the merchant. i just like farming. and im saving for future sets of 15k or 1.5k armor for nightfall.

so my point is, it takes a while to accumilate gwgold by farming, chest running and selling, or running people here and there. but anyone old enough with a paypal account will most likely buy some gold once, twice or more once they start playing and see how hard gold is to come by not knowing how to farm or not knowing what farming is. everyone wants to be the best and have the best right off the bat. thats how i am. but working for your gold is like real life money. you appreciate it more and spend it wisely. i have friends who bought gold. and really i dont care. its thier buisness.
but the bot farmers who make real life money off gwgold, thats what i dont like. because it ruins legit farmers techniques, gets good farming areas nerfed and makes gw having an economy basically pointless.
